Frutiger Space

RESPONSIBLE FOR: All in game animations, some pre-rendered cutscenes, rigging

Frutiger Space is a game developed by Studio Ginestra that I was hired on as a contract worker to re-do proxy animations and complete animations for new features. In addition I redid the proxy rigs, and modeled a few accessory and hair items with a focus on optimization.

Information about the game can be found here

One of the new features that I was tasked with animating actions for was the dolphin racing mode.

Doing ‘vehicle’ or mount type animations was actually somewhat new to me at the time, and I learned a lot about how complicated things can get as soon as you have two ‘alive’ things attached to each other like that. I found it most important to maintain the illusion of weight and follow through that the characters would exert on each other, especially because its a living mount and has to balance.

Emotes!

A lot of these took inspiration or are directly from some aspect of 2000’s and 2010’s internet culture (and so does everything else in the game if that wasn’t apparent).

The building mode was probably my favorite part to animate for. The little guy is just so serious about his work.

Also because my client wanted to make a cool trailer introducing the builder update he tasked me with making a cutscene to show it off.

Don’t worry, he’ll be ok…

More animations of basic walking and such.

Squishy Squashy Bouncy…

The rig for this guy is a little unconventional in some ways. This was a result of me maximizing the boinginess potential of it.
