FPS Animation Capstone

My capstone project for the spring of 2026 was a focus on first person game animations, as I had done many third person animations by this point and wanted to branch out.

Due to being in a new and more experimental study away program my capstone was free of some of the usual restrictions. This allowed for me to take a very self directed approach in the way I decided to go about it. The way I landed on my subject matter for the specific excersizes was essentially ‘dude it would be so cool if someone made…’ and I ran with it from there

I used this as an oppurtunity to get a solid foundation in the basics of fps animation, as well as making some things I thought were really cool.

Pictured on top is the ‘final project’. I wanted to go real stylized and goofy with it mimicking the 1920’s rubberhose style that a lot of indie games seem to be interested in these days.

In addition to the rubber hose concept I warmed up with a few other concepts. I started with some basic unarmed punches as pictured below then did a robotic sword user of which the coolest animations are pictured above.
